The Ministry of Tourism is implementing a series of activities in the Kyustendil region for the 2023–2025 period. These include presenting the municipality at international tourism exhibitions, organizing a familiarization trip for German journalists in 2024, featuring key sites in national advertisements, and promoting regional events through the digital newsletter "Culture in Focus".

These measures are part of a broader strategy to stimulate tourism, in which Minister of Tourism Ilin Dimitrov emphasized the importance of events held outside the peak season. During parliamentary oversight, in response to a question from Nikolay Zlatarski, a representative of the DPS Parliamentary Group, regarding Kyustendil's potential, the Minister stated: "I cannot give advice, but my wish is that, if possible, local communities offer events outside the active tourist season so that the structure itself can be filled". The goal is to ensure that accommodation and tourism bases are utilized year-round.

To achieve this goal, a decentralization model is set to be implemented, which will require municipalities to invest up to 50 percent of the collected tourism tax into regional promotional events. Additionally, a Connectivity and Advertising Fund will be established, focusing on roadshows, B2B meetings, and roundtables with tour operators from key emitting markets. Prior to major exhibitions, supporting events will also be organized at our foreign representative offices with the participation of local authorities and tour operators.

Information support for the tourism sector will also include new digital tools. The joint project "Bulgaria Celebrates" is being prepared—a digital calendar involving media partners to cover festivals and cultural manifestations. In partnership with the Ministry of Transport, a campaign is being conducted in rail transport, where catalogs with QR codes will be placed on trains, directing passengers to the visitbulgaria.com platform.

These national strategies to extend the tourist season will also be significant for the development of the tourism infrastructure and economy in the Burgas region.

In the context of preparations for hosting the "Eurovision" Song Contest in Burgas, Ilin Dimitrov also mentioned planned journalistic familiarization tours, noting Rila Monastery as one of the key locations.
