Stunning Event at Burgas Zoo: Rare Miniature "Jewel" Donkeys Arrive in the City

BURGAS – Burgas Zoo has once again cemented its reputation as a place offering unique experiences after presenting an extremely rare pair of miniature donkeys to its visitors. These charming creatures, standing just 75 centimeters tall, arrived at the zoo and instantly became a main attraction. Their rarity and specific characteristics are the reason they are globally referred to as

"the jewels of livestock farming"

The new residents are a male and female donkey, each distinguished by a remarkable coat. One animal is white with chocolate spots, while the other has a chocolate coat with white spots. This visual appeal makes them a true exotic sight that can rarely be seen in European zoos. Even among other breeds of mini donkeys, they look like an even more miniature version of them, and the contrast between their small body and surprisingly loud braying brings smiles and astonishment to visitors.

In addition to their appearance, these small animals also stand out with an exceptionally gentle and kind character. Their social and friendly behavior makes them ideal for therapeutic purposes. Similar to therapy dogs and ponies, miniature donkeys are often used in work with children and the elderly, helping with their emotional well-being.

The pair already inhabits the zoo's newest contact zone, specially created to allow the public to interact directly with the animals.
