The Council of Ministers has approved a draft Decree to amend and supplement the Ordinance on fees for the use of public-use airports and for air navigation services in the Republic of Bulgaria. The decision was announced by the government press service.

The update changes the amount of the en-route service unit rate, which determines the cost of air navigation services within Bulgarian airspace. Adjustments have also been made regarding the interest rate for late payments of these types of fees.

The unit rate for air navigation services in the terminal area of Sofia Airport (Vasil Levski) has also been updated. The government specifies that the measure is aimed at ensuring high levels of safety and efficiency, in line with the principles of the Single European Sky.

A significant part of the changes involves the introduction of improved incentives to support the development of traffic at the airports in Varna and Burgas. The goal is to bring national legislation into full compliance with European requirements, ensuring financial stability and better market competitiveness.

We remind you that in May, Deputy Minister of Tourism Georgi Todorov emphasized the need for favorable and market-oriented airport charges to increase the accessibility of Bulgarian airports.
