A 77-year-old woman from Burgas is in a life-threatening condition after a crash on the Burgas–Sredets road on 25 October, at the turn-off for the village of Cherni Vrah, the Burgas regional police directorate said. Two children were also hurt.
The crash happened at about 9:36am at km 82+100. Police say a 79-year-old driver of a Burgas-registered Skoda Scala was at fault. He pulled onto the road without stopping at a stop sign and cut across the path of a Honda driven by a 36-year-old man from Burgas.
The impact was very hard. The Honda was thrown off the road, and the front of the Skoda is badly crushed. Police examined the scene and are working to establish the cause of the crash.
The most seriously hurt is the Honda driver's grandmother. Doctors at the University Hospital in Burgas are fighting for her life in the intensive care unit. She has broken ribs and a broken pelvis.
The driver's two sons, aged 3 and 5, were also in the car. They were checked at the same hospital and sent home for treatment there. Their condition is good and their lives are not in danger.
