A 77-year-old woman is in critical condition after a crash on the Burgas–Sredets road near the village of Cherni Vrah yesterday, the regional police directorate in Burgas said.

Police say a 79-year-old driver failed to stop at a stop sign and did not give way to a Honda with Burgas plates shortly after 9.30am. The impact threw the Honda off the road.

The woman has a broken chest and pelvis. She is in intensive care at the University Hospital in Burgas, where doctors are fighting to save her life.

A 36-year-old man was driving the Honda. His sons, aged 3 and 5, were checked by doctors and sent home to recover.
