Hot July 28th: Burgas with summer temperatures, while afternoon storms return to the country

On July 28th, the weather in Bulgaria will remain summery and hot, but in the afternoon hours, conditions will be present for brief rainfall and thunderstorms over the interior of the country. Along the Black Sea coast, the day will be more stable, and near Burgas, good conditions for the beach will be maintained, despite the more noticeable sea breeze.

Burgas and region

In Burgas and the region, July 28th will bring hot and mostly sunny weather. The air temperature will reach around 32°–33°, and nighttime values will remain high - around 21°–22°. The probability of precipitation is low, but in the afternoon hours, isolated local showers are not excluded in the interior of the region.

The sea water temperature near Burgas will be around 25°–26°C, and the wind will be light to moderate, with a prevailing northeasterly or easterly component and a sea breeze picking up later in the day. Sofia and region

In Sofia and the area, July 28th will be hot and more unstable in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will reach around 34°–35°, and the morning will start with more bearable values around 18°–20°. Cumulus clouds will develop in the afternoon, with brief rainfall and thunderstorms possible in some places.

The wind will be light to moderate, temporarily strengthening during the passage of cloud cells. There is no sea water, so a swimming flag does not apply, but the day will require caution due to the heat and possible storms.

Eastern Bulgaria

In Eastern Bulgaria, sunny and very warm weather will prevail, with temperatures between 31° and 36°. Rainfall will be limited and rather local, with the most dynamic activity in the afternoon hours in the interior of the region.

The wind will be light to moderate, most often from the east and northeast. Along the coast, the sea water will be around 25°–26°C, and the turbulence will remain light to moderate. For swimming, the assessment remains green flag.

Western Bulgaria

In Western Bulgaria, July 28th will be the hottest and most unstable in the afternoon hours. Temperatures of up to about 36°–38° are expected, and cumulonimbus clouds will develop in the afternoon with brief rainfall, thunderstorms, and possible stronger wind gusts.

The wind will be light to moderate, but it may temporarily strengthen near storm cells. There is no sea water, and for mountainous and open areas, it is advisable to follow local storm warnings.

In the mountains

In the mountain regions, the day will start mostly sunny, but after noon the atmosphere will become more unstable. The air temperature at 1200 meters will be around 25°–27°, and at 2000 meters - around 18°–20°.

In the afternoon, brief rainfall and thunderstorms are possible, especially over the western massifs. The wind will be light to moderate, with temporary gusts along the ridges. There is no sea water, and for tourists, the early hours of the day will be most suitable.

Black Sea coast

Along the Black Sea coast, it will remain mostly sunny and hot, with temperatures between 29° and 32°. In the afternoon, a moderate sea breeze will blow, which will make the heat more bearable, and the probability of rainfall will be low and mainly local.

The sea water temperature will be around 25°–26°C, and the sea turbulence will be around 2–3 degrees. The general preliminary safety assessment for swimming is green flag, as conditions remain good for the beach.
