Venture capital and the startup ecosystem in Bulgaria experienced impressive development in 2025. According to an analysis by the Bulgarian Association of Venture Investors, by September the total volume of active funds and investments in startups exceeded €350 million – a 15% increase compared to 2024.
"Over the past 12 months, more than 110 new deals have been registered in the country, and the average investment amount for Series A reached €1.7 million," experts note. The increased interest is stimulated by the presence of international accelerators, strategic EU programs and stability of the business environment.
The inflow of investments in the first half of 2025 increased by 20% – according to statistics, foreign investments in innovative companies reached €338 million for January-June. Investors from Germany, the USA and Israel show the most active interest. High-tech sectors – fintech, proptech and AI – remain leading.
Bulgaria is among the top five in Europe in the development of proptech technologies, and in 2025 the country retained 5th place in the ranking for innovations in the real estate sector – online platforms, management software, VR projects and automation are part of the trends.
Coworking spaces are showing growth exceeding 7% annually: according to a report by AssoWorkBG, by September 2025, over 120 professional coworking spaces operate in Bulgaria, uniting about 13,000 residents. Sofia retains the leading position, followed by Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas.
"The market occupancy of office coworking spaces reaches 81%, and new spaces are often narrowly specialized – for IT, finance, digital marketing and creative industries," the association points out. Flexibility, access to community and innovative infrastructure make these spaces preferred by start-up projects and international teams.

The government and municipalities support the venture and coworking sector through grant programs, tax breaks and partnership networks – initiatives for innovative employment and digital transformation are among the key priorities in the national sustainability plan until 2030.
"This policy creates favorable conditions for ambitious entrepreneurs, with Bulgaria establishing itself as an innovation hub in Southeast Europe," market analysts emphasize.
