Over three days, police in the Burgas region found drugs in four different locations. On September 18, during a check in an apartment in Sunny Beach, officers found 5 grams of cannabis, 5 ecstasy tablets and 2 grams of methamphetamine. The next day, in the Ahtopol area, a 54-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman were detained with 12 cannabis plants and marijuana, while a 35-year-old man in Kameno was found with 15 grams of cannabis. On September 20, in Pomorie, 7 grams of methamphetamine and 1 gram of cannabis were seized. During the same period, the woman who committed a theft in the village of Banya was also identified.

These four cases in three days show that the checks are not limited to resort towns. Ahtopol and Kameno are in different parts of the region, and the quantities are small, typical of small-scale distribution. What follows: the charges in these cases go through the prosecutor's office, and some of the detained already face charges for cultivating plants, which is more serious than simple possession.

The Ombudsman wants a new procedure for water utility inspections

Velislava Delcheva sent a position paper to Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Shishkov requesting changes to Ordinance No. 4 of 2004. The reason is complaints in which the same shortcomings keep recurring: how water meters are read, how water restrictions are introduced, how drinking water is supplied, and who actually controls the utility companies.

Among her proposals is that residents' self-reported meter readings be accepted as valid, and that data on the number of people living in an apartment be updated regularly. This sounds technical, but the request for changes to Ordinance No. 4 hits exactly where people most often clash with the water utility: the bill for cold water on the shared meter and how many people it is divided among. The ordinance is amended by the ministry, not by parliament, so the change could happen relatively quickly if Shishkov accepts the position paper.

A second night bus line and the question of who pays for it

Municipal councilor Dilyan Georgiev proposed that Burgas launch a second night bus line, but only during the summer. Under his plan, N2 would start from the South Bus Station, pass through Lazur, Izgrev and Zornitsa, then through the airport and end in Sarafovo. The current N1 line would remain unchanged, and passengers would transfer at the South Bus Station.

The point is the airport. People with late flights and those working there currently rely on taxis because night transport does not reach that far. The proposal for line N2 comes from a councilor, not the municipality, so it must first go through a committee and a session of the Municipal Council, and then funding must be found for buses and drivers for the season. If it goes ahead, it would be no earlier than next summer.

Vazrazhdane lowers prices, Lazur holds firm

The housing market in Burgas has stopped moving in one direction. According to analyses by real estate agencies based on listings at the end of September, in several large complexes sellers lowered their asking prices, while elsewhere levels remain unchanged. This is clearest in Vazrazhdane, where the typical price is around 2014 euros per square meter, 3.7 percent lower than in the previous three months. For four-room apartments, the difference is even greater.

Here's the catch: the figures come from listings, not from notarized deals. They show what sellers think and where a discount is already necessary to close a deal. In Lazur, there is no such discount yet. For buyers, the difference between the neighborhoods means that in one you might be able to negotiate, while in the other you likely cannot. The next set of data will show whether the drop in Vazrazhdane is the start of a broader shift or a one-time correction after a strong quarter.

A dolphin in the shallows near Pomorie

Beachgoers in the Krotirya area near Pomorie reported that a dolphin was stranded in the shallows and could not get free. People from the municipality, the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIOSV) – Burgas, staff from the Pomorie Fishing Port, specialists from the Wild Animal Rescue Center, and volunteers arrived on the scene. Together they guided the animal toward deeper water until it moved away from the shore on its own. Mayor Ivan Alexiev said there were no signs of injury on its body — it had simply ended up very close to the beach and could not find a way out. The rescue of the dolphin ended without the need to transport it to a center.

Two world medals for the acrobats of Naftex

Two Burgas duos returned with medals from the World Championship in Acrobatic Gymnastics in Pesaro, Italy. Sofia Hristova and Hristiyana Yulieva won silver in the women's pairs category in the 13–19 age group, scoring 27.660 points in the combined final routine. Hasan Ismil and Simona Ivanova added bronze in the mixed pairs category, ages 12–18, with 27.150 points in the final.

All four train at the KSA "Naftex 2024" club in Burgas and were already European champions, and now they can add the world medals from Pesaro to that. The club congratulated the competitors and thanked the coaching staff.
