The film about Burgas Airport turned the premiere into a cinematic triumph

The world premiere of the documentary "Connecting Burgas to Tomorrow" put the focus on the impressive transformation of Burgas Airport and the people behind one of the most large-scale infrastructure projects in the country. The event took place on July 22 at the NHK Cultural Center in Burgas as part of the official program of the Burgas International Film Festival (BIFF) and brought together representatives of institutions, aviation, tourism, business, cultural circles, project partners, and media on the red carpet.

The evening was dedicated not only to the successful completion of the full rehabilitation of the Burgas Airport runway but also to the expertise, dedication, and teamwork that made the project possible. The film is produced by "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD and was created by "BG Media" OOD. It tells the story of the largest single private investment in airport infrastructure realized in Bulgaria to date.

The project is worth over 60 million euros and was executed in the period from November 2025 to April 2026. Thanks to this, Burgas Airport welcomed the 2026 summer season with a completely rehabilitated runway, built according to the highest international standards for safety, quality, and operational efficiency.

Filmed during the work on the project, the film takes the viewer behind the scenes of one of the most complex and large-scale undertakings in the history of Bulgarian aviation. The authentic footage, shot during key stages of implementation, shows the vast scope of the construction activities, the technical complexity of the engineering solutions, and the need for extremely precise coordination under tight deadlines.

The director of "Connecting Burgas to Tomorrow" is Stefan Boboychev, the author is Daniela Kostadinova, the screenplay is by Daniela Kostadinova and Lalka Dimitrova, and the cinematographer is Stoycho Ivanov. At the center of the narrative are the people whose professionalism, resilience, and determination turned the ambitious vision into a lasting achievement.

The film pays tribute to the engineers, construction specialists, airport experts, operational teams, and all partners who worked with persistence for the future of one of the most strategically important airports in Bulgaria. The official program was opened with remarks by Emil Ovanesov, director of the Burgas International Film Festival, and Michael Reuss, CEO of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD. Following this, the film was also presented by its author, Daniela Kostadinova.

"Connecting Burgas to Tomorrow" is more than a documentary account of a construction project. It is a story of vision, responsibility, and development, which shows how long-term investments in modern airport infrastructure increase safety, support tourism and the regional economy, and strengthen the international connectivity of Burgas and the Southern Black Sea coast.

The world premiere became the culmination of a project that already occupies an important place in the modern history of Bulgarian aviation. Through the language of cinema, the significance of the rehabilitation was presented beyond technical parameters and construction stages - as a human achievement, driven by a common goal, high expertise, and confidence in the future.
