Regarding the latest incident at an "EMCO" storage facility, recorded on September 11, 2026, the company categorically rejects the possibility of human error. In an official statement, the company emphasizes that the facility in question had not been in use for months and access to it was restricted, which rules out the presence of employees or unauthorized persons. Further proof of the facility's compliance is the fact that since the beginning of the year, it has undergone seven inspections by Ministry of Interior authorities. During the last inspection, conducted 20 days ago, full compliance with regulatory requirements was established, which was duly recorded in protocols drafted by the inspectors themselves.

"EMCO" expresses serious concern that the destruction of warehouses containing special products has become a daily occurrence in Bulgaria since 2011. According to the company, all similar incidents since 2011 have been caused by external forces. The lack of results in more than 10 investigations into similar incidents in the sector is indicative of the state authorities' inability to do their job or of potential complicity in criminal activity. The "indifferent attitude" of the state toward these acts of sabotage only encourages the perpetrators and those behind them, the arms company believes. They call on the National Assembly to urgently analyze the security gaps, as facilities in this industry are on the list of sites of strategic importance for national security. Within the perimeter of the facilities, responsibility lies with the respective company, but outside that perimeter, security is the responsibility of the state.

Against the backdrop of these events, Minister of Interior Ivan Demerdzhiev announced to journalists in the village of Tsareva Livada that a thorough inspection of all ammunition depots in the country is forthcoming. According to him, measures are to be taken by the Ministry, the government, and the services, as there is a visible neglect of security procedures and the conditions under which explosive materials are stored. "EMCO" insists that Bulgaria, as the most affected country in the EU and NATO, must join forces with its partners and allies in Europe to neutralize such attacks, which are increasingly threatening the security of the continent.

The issue of national security became even more acute following the remarks of Vice President Iliana Iotova. She stated that she is considering convening a Consultative Council for National Security (CCNS), "as these cases have become very frequent." Iotova emphasized that against the backdrop of the escalating war in Ukraine, as well as the situation in the Middle East, the competent services must provide a clear assessment of the case. We remind you that this is the second incident at a company facility within a short period, after an explosion was also recorded on August 10 of this year, in which, fortunately, there were no casualties.
