Assoc. Prof. Radostina Ivanova-Mishineva, who has served as the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Austria in Burgas since 2017, has now also been appointed as the Honorary Consul of the Swiss Confederation in the same city. This new position is a logical expansion of her previous consular work and aims to significantly enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries on a regional scale.

The official announcement regarding the appointment was made by the Embassy of Switzerland in Bulgaria following a meeting with Assoc. Prof. Ivanova-Mishineva. In her new role, she will be responsible for supporting the diplomatic mission on all consular matters directly related to the city of Burgas and the surrounding region.

Since 2017, Assoc. Prof. Radostina Ivanova-Mishineva has successfully led the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Austria in Burgas, with her consular district covering the regions of Burgas, Varna, and Dobrich. Her solid experience and active work in this field serve as a natural foundation for taking on this new responsibility for Switzerland. The Swiss Embassy emphasizes that this decision is part of the context of the traditionally strong cooperation between Austria and Switzerland on consular issues. Such a partnership model has been successfully implemented in a number of countries around the world, and with this appointment, it gains a new concrete dimension within Bulgaria.

Assoc. Prof. Radostina Ivanova-Mishineva is recognized as a prominent figure in the public, academic, and legal life of Burgas. Her professional background includes the following positions:

  • Lecturer in Labor Law and Social Security at the Center for Legal Sciences at the Burgas Free University;
  • Managing owner of a law firm;
  • Deputy Regional Governor of Burgas Province from 2001 to 2004;
  • Advisor in the political cabinet of the Minister of Regional Development and Public Works from 2004 to 2005.
