Bulgaria has demonstrated its readiness to cooperate actively with its Romanian partners, aiming to achieve a higher level of security in the Black Sea basin, better regional integration, and greater resilience for the entire European Union. This position was shared by Deputy Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova in a video message to participants at the annual Romanian diplomacy forum, held in Bucharest from today until tomorrow.

"The Black Sea has become a region of strategic importance for the security of our continent. Here, Bulgaria and Romania have a special role. We are working together to strengthen maritime security, counter hybrid threats, and build greater regional resilience," noted Minister Velislava Petrova.

In Petrova's view, the Black Sea Maritime Security Hub occupies a key position in these joint efforts. She emphasized that this initiative deserves solid support from the EU, as well as the provision of permanent financial instruments for its implementation.

"But security today also relates to connectivity. New bridges over the Danube, modern railways, better transport links, as well as the Vertical Gas Corridor. These are not just infrastructure projects. They are strategic investments in Europe's security, competitiveness, and economic resilience. Our partnership also extends across all of Southeast Europe," emphasized Minister Velislava Petrova.

She pointed out that the two countries maintain a status of strategic partners and close allies, emphasizing that the prosperity, security, and European perspective of Bulgaria and Romania are inextricably linked.

"As we prepare to mark the 20th year of our shared European integration, it is time to reflect on how far we have come, but also to remain engaged and united in our active contribution to a stronger and more effective European Union, adapted to the challenges of today and tomorrow. Europe is facing a deeply changed security environment," she added.
