Interior minister Ivan Demerdzhiev held talks with the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates on how to deepen bilateral cooperation against organised and cross-border crime, the ministry said.

The Interior Ministry's Academy will develop a strategic partnership with the police academies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. It includes sharing professional experience, joint training, research projects and new technology in police training.

The minister also spoke about cybercrime and modern threats to public safety with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary His Excellency Abdulrahman Ahmed Sultan Essa Al Jaber.

The delegation visited the Interior Ministry's Academy, where rector chief commissioner Ilin Savov and deputy rector commissioner Milorad Yordanov welcomed it. Both took part in the talks, as did deputy minister Kaloyan Kaloyanov.

A few days earlier, Demerdzhiev met Brigitte Strobel-Shaw of the Secretariat of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network). The network is part of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

"Our goal is for international anti-corruption standards to turn into real results – effective investigations and tracing the money flows of criminals," the minister said after that meeting. He said this also includes cutting the ways to hide illegal assets.
