Deputy Interior Minister Filip Popov highlighted Bulgaria's role in Black Sea security through strengthened border control, participation in European initiatives, and joint operations with Frontex, Interpol, and Europol.

Bulgaria plays a key role in the overall security of the Black Sea region, emphasized Deputy Minister of Interior Philip Popov. The focus was placed on strengthening border control and active participation in European initiatives. Popov noted the strategic importance of the Black Sea as a zone of key transport routes, energy and information corridors, as well as the existing risks that require joint security measures.

The Ministry of Interior (MIA) actively participates in European operations for monitoring the sea border, increasing the efficiency of border protection, and modernizing early warning systems. Joint operations with Frontex are key to countering illegal migration, smuggling, and pollution of the sea.

Popov emphasized the importance of the Coordination Information Center in Burgas, established in 2004, which provides 24-hour monitoring of ship traffic and exchanges information. The MIA also participates in operations with Interpol and Europol, aimed at countering cross-border crime.

Bulgaria strives to be a reliable partner for stability in the Black Sea region, presenting results from multi-purpose maritime operations such as "Blue Border". Cooperation with Turkey and Romania is key for coordinated actions for border control.

Popov expressed his conviction that through joint efforts, the Black Sea can be a model of integrated partnership, where economic interests and security complement each other.
