Astronomical Daylight Saving Time 2025: When Do We Turn Back the Clocks?

The return to astronomical time in 2025 is scheduled for 04:00 local time on October 26. At that time, the hands of the clocks will be turned back one hour, the Bulgarian Institute of Metrology announced to BTA.

This change is part of the implementation of Directive 2000/84/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union of January 19, 2021, the institute recalls. This directive regulates the annual transition to and from daylight saving time, which is practiced in a number of European countries.

We remind you that on March 30 this year the country switched to daylight saving time. Accordingly, the return to standard, astronomical time is coming.

The regulation on the transition between winter and summer time was established by Decree 94 of the Council of Ministers of March 13, 1997, according to data from the "Reference" department of BTA. This decree indicates that every year, on the night before the last Sunday of October, winter time is introduced, and the clocks are turned back one hour. Conversely, on the last Sunday of March, there is a transition to daylight saving time, which requires the clocks to be moved forward one hour.
