Burgas is preparing to host an extraordinary celebration of St. Nicholas Day. On the seventh of December, at the Flora Expo Center at 6:00 PM, the audience will immerse themselves in "Nikulden Ethnopalette", a musical-stage spectacle promising a colorful, emotional, and inspiring evening. The event, organized by the Center for Jewish-Bulgarian Cooperation "Alef", promises to tell the story of Burgas through the prism of the songs, stories, and smiles of its residents.
The spectacle is the result of the long-standing work of "Alef" – an organization that for twelve years has tirelessly explored the ethnic diversity of the seaside city. "Nikulden Ethnopalette" represents the next step in a series of initiatives, establishing Burgas as a symbol of tolerance and cultural dialogue, and as a potential candidate for the title of "European Capital of Culture" in 2032.
The event is not just a concert, but a living story of Burgas – a city open to all. A city where people from different ethnic groups live in harmony, share holidays, languages, and dreams. The spectacle will turn into a mosaic of music, words, art, and emotions, a celebration of humanity, inspired by the sea, the people, and the stories that make the city what it is: a city of friendship and culture.
The audience will have the opportunity to hear Romani, Turkish, Armenian, Greek, Russian, Ukrainian, and Jewish motifs, interwoven in the common theme of belonging, respect, and humanity. In addition to the musical performances, the program includes ethnic humor – jokes, anecdotes, and funny stories that emphasize that laughter is a universal language.
The "Palette" will be led by the artist Rumen Statkov, whose quick on-site drawings will create a unique visual diary of the evening, and the actor Dilyan Nikolov, who will lead the audience on a journey through the cultural soul of the city. Composer Stefan Dimov, a descendant of an old Greek family, will present the breath of the sea and the millennial presence. Stories and memories from the multifaceted Burgas will be told by journalist and writer Maria Kassimova-Moase. The energy and colors of the different cultures will be presented by Ukrainian performers from "Burgas Voices", the vocal formation "Rose and Thorns", Hacho Sarabyan, the artist – bard Zheko Stoyanov and children from Primary School "Hristo Botev" in Burgas.
"Nikulden Palette" represents a reflection on the identity of Burgas – a city that gathers under one sky different languages, cultures, and religions. The word, poetry, and songs will intertwine in the drawings of the artist and the humor of the different ethnicities, proving that tolerance and friendship are the most beautiful colors in the human palette. The spectacle is dedicated to Burgas – as it is: multi-voiced, warm, marine. A festive picture, painted with songs, children's smiles, and human kindness.
