The city of Burgas is preparing for a series of solemn events dedicated to one of the most significant dates in Bulgarian history – the 140th anniversary of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria with Eastern Rumelia. Preparations are in full swing, with the Municipality of Burgas organizing a rich festive program aimed at honoring the memory of the heroes who contributed to this fateful act of national unification.

Festive program and the culmination of the celebrations

The central celebrations are planned for the holiday in 2025, when all the traditions symbolizing national pride and gratitude will be performed.

  • 10:30 AM: The festive program will start at "Atanas Sirekov" Square with a solemn flag-raising ceremony. The national flag of the Republic of Bulgaria will be officially raised, along with the flags of the European Union and the Municipality of Burgas.
  • 11:00 AM: The program will move to the area in front of the Monument of the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment, located in front of the Military Club in the city. A requiem service will be held in memory of the heroes who gave their lives in the struggle for the Unification. The event will be accompanied by a ceremony of laying wreaths and flowers.
  • 11:30 AM: The culmination of the festive day will be back at "Atanas Sirekov" Square. The professional folk ensemble "Strandzha", under the expert leadership of its leader Mario Egov, will present a festive concert.
With this concert, the ensemble will greet the residents and guests of Burgas, reminding them of the strength of the Bulgarian spirit and the richness of our cultural heritage, which are an integral part of our national unity. The music is expected to fill the square, bringing together people of all ages in a common celebration of Bulgarian identity.
