The blue and green zones now cost 2 BGN per hour. There’s talk of a new “red zone” for the super-central area, where people already circle for 30 minutes trying to find a place.
If you happen to live in such an area, maybe you already have a sticker. But even that doesn’t save you—someone’s always “faster.” And then there are the cones—plastic “ownership papers” for parking spots. Some people put them out in the morning and park in the evening as if in a private garage.
The municipality promises new parking lots, including underground and multi-level ones. But for now, they exist only on paper. In the neighborhoods, the situation isn’t much better—sidewalks have turned into improvised parking areas, and pedestrians weave between bumpers and flower pots.
Parking should be simple, but it feels like a test of patience. Instead of helping drivers, zones expand every year while available spaces shrink.
