Pomorie Lake is a unique natural complex located in the immediate vicinity of the Black Sea city of Pomorie. This salt water body possesses exceptional characteristics that make it one of the most significant ecological sites along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.

The geographical location of the lake is extremely favorable - it is a shallow salt basin that spans an area of around 760 decares. Formed naturally over centuries, the site is a closed lagoon closely connected to the sea through a narrow channel.

The main economic activity carried out here is traditional salt production. Local residents have been developing this production for more than 1000 years, using specific technological methods for extracting salt from seawater. Salt pans are located along the lake's periphery and represent an extremely important livelihood for the local population.

The ecological value of Pomorie Lake is extremely high. It is a critically important habitat for numerous rare and protected bird species. During migration periods, thousands of specimens from various ornithological populations pass through, making it a true biological corridor of international significance.

Scientific research shows that the lake maintains an exceptionally diverse ecosystem. Over 260 plant species and more than 80 bird species can be found here, some of which are endangered and included in international red lists.

Contemporary management of this natural site includes strict conservation measures. Local authorities and environmental organizations are making targeted efforts to preserve the unique ecological balance and maintain traditional salt production practices.

Pomorie Lake is not just a geographical object, but a true symbol of the interaction between human activity and natural processes, demonstrating the possibility of sustainable coexistence of traditional economic activities in harmony with the environment.
