The prehistoric complex “Provadia – Solnitsata” has received the European Heritage Label for 2025 in recognition of its key role in the history and culture of Europe, the European Commission announced.

Another 12 sites have been awarded, including the project “Places of Peace” – a European network of sites in Bulgaria (Kaynardzha), Portugal, Spain, France, Hungary, Slovakia, and Croatia, where peace treaties were signed between the 13th and 19th centuries.

The European Heritage Label is a leading initiative of the “Creative Europe” program and distinguishes sites that have had a profound impact on the history, culture, and development of the European Union.

The thirteen sites were selected by a committee of independent experts. The winners will be invited to the European Heritage Label awards ceremony, which will be held on April 22, 2026, in Brussels.
