Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and UK Minister for EU Relations Nik Thomas-Symonds were present at Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport to welcome the first group of British citizens who passed through the new electronic gates upon entry into Bulgaria. Minister Thomas-Symonds stated that the service will encourage more British tourists to visit the country and will support tourism. The Director of the Main Directorate "Border Police" Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov announced that the measure will be permanent and available at all airports in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is one of the first countries to provide this opportunity for British citizens, within a week of the signing of the agreement between the UK and the EU on May 19.
