A New Vision for Tourism and Transport in Bulgaria

At a working meeting at the Ministry of Tourism, initiated by Minister Ilin Dimitrov, key measures to improve accessibility to the country were discussed. The discussion was attended by representatives of the ministries, Black Sea municipalities, and the management of major airports.

"Transport and tourism are interdependent sectors," stated Minister of Transport Georgi Peev, emphasizing the need for state partnership with municipalities.

Key priorities:

  • Connectivity Fund: Creation of a mechanism for joint advertising with municipalities and attracting airlines.
  • Modernization of rail transport: Replacement of outdated rolling stock with modern air-conditioned trains from Alstom and Skoda.
  • Interactive tourism: Trains will bear the names of Bulgarian peaks, and QR codes will provide passengers with information about regional attractions.
  • Infrastructure: Focus on the completion of the Hemus motorway and optimization of the capacity of Sofia Airport.

The Ministry of Tourism is actively working to promote the country, as evidenced by the upcoming hosting of the TUI management meeting in Golden Sands this September.
