Brutal crime in Plovdiv

The police and the prosecutor's office in Plovdiv are investigating a case of an especially cruel murder. A young man was found beaten to death on the Youth Hill (Mladezhki Halm) in the city, after becoming the target of an attack by a group of minors.

"It was not just a beating, but also a mockery of the victim," the prosecutor's office emphasized.

Investigation details

Supervising prosecutor Anelia Trifonova announced that about a dozen youths aged between 14 and 17 have been detained. Five of them – three boys and two girls – have been charged with the most active participation in the beating.

  • Motive: The group attempted to take the law into their own hands, posing as "paedophile hunters."
  • Modus operandi: The victim suffered extremely severe injuries, including ruptured internal organs and traumatic brain injury.
  • Evidence: Some of the attackers filmed the crime with their mobile phones, and the recordings have already been seized by investigators.
