Swimming ban at "Iztok" beach in Sveti Vlas
The Regional Health Inspection (RHI) in Burgas has introduced a temporary swimming ban at "Iztok" beach in Sveti Vlas. The measure is necessary due to deviations in seawater quality indicators, established through laboratory tests.
"Entering the water at the beach will be restricted from noon today," announced the director of the RHI, Dr. Georgi Pazderov.
Reasons for the pollution
According to the regional governor of Burgas, Diko Dikov, the problem is caused by a private wastewater treatment plant in the area. The facility's capacity does not match the load during the active tourist season, which has led to the undesirable results in the seawater.
What beachgoers need to know?
- The beach remains open: The restriction applies only to entering the water.
- Signage: The concessionaire is obliged to place information signs and prohibition flags.
- Cancellation period: The ban will remain in effect until two consecutive samples with clean results, taken at an interval of 48 hours, are obtained.
