Regional Minister Ivan Shishkov stated that the illegal structures near Varna will be removed. There are already 22 findings acts and 12 demolition orders.

The state is preparing actions to cut off the water supply and electricity to illegal buildings in the "Baba Alino" area near Varna. Regional Minister Ivan Shishkov stated that the demolition of the structures will also be initiated.

Shishkov inspected the area together with the Mayor of Varna Blagomir Kotsev and the regional governor. During the inspection, he emphasized that the institutions must enforce the law regarding the buildings, which are described as an "illegal city".

"We can, of course, cut off the water to the buildings that are illegal construction. Most likely, the current governor does not want to do it. I hope the court will not interfere so actively. As for the electricity, of course, we will call on the private company to act in a way that helps the law to prevail... If it continues not to cooperate, the state will intervene in another way. We will not stand idly by and we will not beg. They will find a way to cut off the electricity to these buildings that are illegal. This is what the law dictates," the minister declared.

He pointed out that the demolition of the illegal structures must happen, but the procedures are tied to administrative acts and judicial oversight.

22 findings acts and 12 orders

Mayor Blagomir Kotsev announced that 22 findings acts for illegal construction have been drawn up so far, and demolition orders have already been issued for 12 buildings. Orders for another eight objects are expected in the coming weeks.

"The support that we can receive from the DNSC, and are receiving, is for the quality and for the wording in these very orders, so that they can withstand a court challenge. Mr. Shishkov can perhaps confirm that the deadlines for notification and return are very important to be met, because if they are not met, that would be a reason for overturning the demolition in court," said Kotsev.

The issued demolition orders are already the subject of legal proceedings. The Administrative Court in Varna has opened 12 cases following appeals against the demolition orders, and their preliminary execution has been suspended. This means that the physical removal of the affected buildings will depend on the development and final outcome of the judicial procedures.
