The "Vazrazhdane" bill to reduce VAT on essential food items and the small consumer basket has been stalled for four months. Petar Petrov noted in the program "Panorama" that the document, submitted on May 5, is being blocked by "Progressive Bulgaria," which is conditioning its introduction to the plenary session. The party has also pushed for a reduction in VAT on fuels, but these measures remain unfulfilled.

Petrov characterized the support measures proposed by the ruling authorities as insufficient, stating they will not lead to price stabilization. He criticized the decision for zero excise duty on propane-butane, as it does not cover households that use other fuels for heating. According to him, several groups also remain outside the scope of the actions, making the measure "spontaneous and disproportionate, inconsistent, and unlawful." "You have excluded all these people from these measures. That is exactly why we announced today that your measure in this direction is spontaneous and disproportionate, inconsistent, and unlawful. It is simply a mockery of the people," he emphasized.

He also believes the one-time aid of 50 euros is insufficient. Petrov questioned the support for other segments of the population, claiming that, in his view, people who do not fall into social assistance categories should also receive support.

Regarding the presidential elections, Petar Petrov announced that "Vazrazhdane" will present its candidate within days, as the party has already decided to run with a party candidate. He explained the specific situation surrounding the process: although the existence of a candidate was announced days ago, the name has not yet been revealed. This is due to the fact that, on one hand, there is an initiative committee supported by the party—which effectively makes them their party candidate—but on the other hand, the party seems to be hesitating to participate in this, which is why the name has not yet been announced.

Regarding the candidate himself, Petrov emphasized that it is extremely important for them to be an "absolutely independent" person. The goal is for the chosen individual not to represent a concentration of power between the presidency and the executive branch, which is of critical importance to them.

The discussed measures to reduce VAT and prices of basic goods have a direct impact on the consumer basket and household expenses in Burgas and the region.
