The flu vaccine Influvac will not be sold in pharmacies in the 2026/2027 season, the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union said. All delivered doses will go to the national flu vaccination programmes.
The manufacturer expects to supply less than it first planned. It sent a letter to the Ministry of Health and the Bulgarian Drug Agency saying it cannot provide vaccines for the pharmacy market.
The union received the same official information and posted it on its website. The notice came to the union from the company that holds the marketing authorisation for the vaccine.
The two national programmes for free flu vaccination cover children and adults aged 65 and over.
The ministry said it is responsible for supplying vaccines for the national programmes. Who supplies pharmacies is decided between the pharmacies, the wholesalers and the marketing authorisation holder, it said, and this is a commercial agreement, not a matter for the ministry.
