Tragedy in Vraches: Father Fatally Shot His Son under Unclear Circumstances

Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office began a large-scale investigation after a serious crime was committed in the Vratesh village of Botevgrad, where a father killed his son with a firearm. The incident, which shocked the local community, was registered on August 8, when 20-year-old I.N. was shot on the family property.

Immediately after the crime, the victim was transported to a capital city hospital, where he unfortunately died from his severe injuries. Forensic experts established that the perpetrator was 61-year-old K.N. – the victim's father, who was detained by law enforcement.

The Prosecutor's Office qualified the act as intentional murder, committed with a particularly dangerous weapon – a firearm. The criminal proceedings are being conducted under the direct supervision of the Sofia Regional Prosecutor's Office, which gathered irrefutable evidence of the accused's guilt.

With an official procedural order, K.N. was detained for the maximum permissible 72-hour period. The prosecutor's office is expected to file an official request in court to impose the most severe measure of restraint – "detention in custody".

This case is reminiscent of another tragic incident from August last year in Plovdiv, where a child accidentally killed his father – a 49-year-old police officer, using his official weapon. The previous case led to the official removal of a high-ranking police officer.

The investigation continues, with revealing the full picture of the motives and circumstances of the crime being a priority for the investigating authorities.
