Fatal accident in the Balkan Mountains

A serious accident has shaken hikers in the Balkan Mountains. A 60-year-old woman from Panagyurishte died on the spot after falling from the ridge during a hike.

Details of the tragedy

The report of the accident was received at 11:07 a.m. today. A group of six tourists was moving along the iconic route from the "Kozya Stena" hut to the "Echo" hut. In the area of a steep section that is secured with a railing, the woman slipped and fell into the abyss.

Although the hikers were secured with a rope, the fall proved fatal for the 60-year-old woman.

Rescue operation

Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) teams from the Lovech, Troyan, and Sopot detachments were immediately dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, the other five members of the group are unharmed.
