Tragedy at "Diana" sports complex: wrestling champion Zsanett Németh died after falling from the 11th floor

A severe incident shook Bulgarian sports this morning. Around 10:30 a.m., wrestling champion "Zsanett Németh" died after falling from the 11th floor of the athletes' block at the capital's "Diana" sports complex. The information was confirmed by sources in the SDVR (Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs), cited by "Tema Sport" and BGNES.

Police teams and investigative authorities immediately arrived at the scene, conducted an inspection, and are working to clarify all circumstances surrounding the tragedy. At the moment, the primary version being investigated is "suicide," and information regarding potential personal motives is being verified.

"Zsanett Németh," born in Hungary and competing for Bulgaria, was among the leading names in women's wrestling in our country. Recently, she won the national title in the 76-kilogram category, confirming her position as one of the strongest competitors in the country. In recent years, Németh represented the colors of CSKA and already held Bulgarian citizenship.

During her preparation for competitions, "Zsanett Németh" trained alongside national athletes, including world champion "Bilyana Dudova." The two were teammates at CSKA and lived in the same room on the 11th floor of the "Diana" complex, where the fatal incident occurred. Media reports emphasized that they shared a very close relationship.

According to information circulated by "Arena Sport," the management of CSKA expressed readiness to pay the 10,000 Swiss franc fee so that "Zsanett Németh" could officially compete for Bulgaria in international tournaments. This means that, at least from a financial standpoint, the club had secured support for her career.

However, in recent days, "Zsanett Németh" had been in a severe mental state. According to information from those close to the team, she had fallen into a deep depression and had been seeing a psychologist. It is precisely these potential personal and emotional problems that will be the subject of a careful investigation.

The tragic passing of "Zsanett Németh" once again brings the topic of mental health in professional sports and the pressure elite athletes are under to the forefront. Bulgarian wrestling loses one of its champions at a time when she was at the peak of her career and, for many, it seemed her future on the mat was secure and promising.
