A tragic incident shook the Pomorie region on May 21 this year. Around 9:05 PM, the operational duty unit of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas received a signal about an incident in a private home in the area of "Lahana". According to the information, a 91-year-old man from Stara Zagora, who had come to Pomorie for the funeral of his daughter, shot his 69-year-old son-in-law, a resident of Burgas.
Teams from the Criminal Police Department of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas, the Specialized Police Forces Sector of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas, the Pomorie Regional Police Department, and the Investigation Department of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Burgas arrived at the scene and arrested the 91-year-old shooter. According to his statements, his daughter had died on May 17 this year, and she was being cared for by his son-in-law and his 46-year-old son, who had returned from abroad to help his mother.
After the woman's funeral, the 91-year-old man's relationship with his son-in-law, who is a furniture maker by profession, deteriorated. During dinner, while the grandson went upstairs, the man from Stara Zagora fired two shots to the head and back of his son-in-law. Hearing the shots, the grandson returned to the room and managed to take the weapon from his grandfather, who had attempted suicide.
The body of the 69-year-old man was taken for an autopsy at the University Hospital in Burgas, and the 91-year-old shooter was detained for up to 24 hours at the Pomorie Regional Police Department. The Browning pistol used in the crime was illegally owned. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated in the Pomorie Regional Police Department.
