On June 13, 2026, Burgas and the coast remain warm and relatively calm for swimming, while cumulonimbus clouds, rain, and thunderstorms are expected in the interior of the country in the afternoon.

Burgas and the region: a sunny day and good conditions for the sea

On June 13, 2026, the weather in Burgas and the region will be mostly calm and typical for early summer. The morning will begin with clear skies and pleasant temperatures around 17–18 degrees, and during the day the mercury will rise to about 24–26 degrees. In the late afternoon hours, a brief increase in cloudiness is possible, but the probability of precipitation in the region remains low to moderate.

For most of the day, no significant precipitation is expected, and if brief showers occur, they will be local and light. The wind in the morning hours will be light from the west with speeds of about 4–8 km/h, while towards noon and the afternoon it will gradually shift from the east and increase to about 10–16 km/h in the open sections of the coast. This will provide a slight refreshment along the coastline without creating serious risks for swimmers.

The sea water temperature in the water area of Burgas and the Southern Black Sea coast will be approximately 21–22 degrees, which creates comfortable conditions for swimming. The sea state will remain slight to moderate – about 2 Douglas scale, and in the late afternoon hours it may slightly increase on open beaches, but within normal summer values.

The preliminary assessment for swimming safety on the main beaches in the Burgas region for June 13 is close to a green flag, with local moments of a yellow flag during temporary increases in wind or stronger swell. For most people, conditions will be suitable for swimming, but caution is recommended for children, the elderly, and people with weaker swimming skills, as well as monitoring signals from lifeguards.

Sofia and the region: a warm day with afternoon storms

In the area of the capital Sofia, June 13 will begin with sunny weather and minimum temperatures around 16–17 degrees. By noon the sky will be mostly clear to slightly cloudy, but in the afternoon, the development of cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds is expected. Maximum temperatures in the Sofia field will reach about 25–27 degrees.

The probability of precipitation in the afternoon and evening hours is increased – in some places there will be short-lived but more intense rains, accompanied by thunder and local gusts of wind. The wind in the capital during the day will be light to moderate, mostly from the west-northwest with speeds of about 10–15 km/h, while in areas with storms the wind may temporarily increase in gusts.

For the Sofia area, there is no relation to swimming in the sea, but due to the increased risk of thunderstorms, it is recommended to avoid open spaces and high places in the late afternoon and evening.

Eastern and Western Bulgaria: a contrast between a calmer east and a more dynamic west

In Western Bulgaria on June 13, a more unstable atmosphere is expected. The morning will be relatively calm, with temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees, but in the afternoon, cloudiness will increase, with cumulonimbus clouds developing in many places. Short-lived precipitation is expected, temporarily intense, accompanied by thunderstorms and a risk of local hail. Maximum temperatures will be in the range of 24–28 degrees, but it will feel fresher during intense rainfall.

The wind in the western regions will be light to moderate from the west-northwest with speeds of about 10–20 km/h, while in storm cells gusts may exceed these values. Caution is recommended during mountain hikes and when traveling along open sections due to possible strong gusts and sudden changes in weather.

In Eastern Bulgaria, the situation will be more stable. The morning will be mostly sunny, with minimum temperatures around 17–19 degrees, and daily maximums will reach 26–29 degrees. Cloudiness will increase more slowly and the probability of precipitation is lower compared to the western regions. The wind will be light to moderate, with a prevailing direction from the southeast, with speeds of about 10–16 km/h, although it may be slightly stronger along the Black Sea coast.

In the eastern regions, where there is access to the sea, the preliminary assessment for swimming safety will be between a green and yellow flag, depending on local conditions on the beaches and instantaneous wind gusts.

In the mountains: a good start to the day, unstable afternoon

In mountain regions, June 13 will offer a classic picture of unstable summer weather. Until noon, a sunny to partially cloudy sky will prevail, suitable for mountain tourism, with temperatures around 18–20 degrees at an altitude of about 1200 meters and about 12–14 degrees at 2000 meters.

In the afternoon, however, an intensification of cumulonimbus clouds is expected, especially over the massifs of Rila, Pirin, the Balkan Mountains, and part of the Rhodopes. In many places, there will be short-lived but intense precipitation, accompanied by thunder and strong wind gusts. The wind on the ridges will be moderate, most often from the west-northwest with speeds of about 20–30 km/h, while it may increase in storm zones.

For mountain hikes, it is recommended that tourists head to lower parts in the early afternoon and avoid ridges and open edges during thunderstorms.

Black Sea coast: a pleasant summer with a conditionally stable sea

Along the entire Black Sea coast on June 13, warm weather will prevail with daily maximum air temperatures between 23 and 26 degrees. Morning values will be around 17–19 degrees, which makes conditions pleasant for both early walks and the beach.

The temperature of the sea water along the coast will be approximately 21–22 degrees, with minimal variations between the northern and southern resorts. The sea state will remain slight to moderate – about 2 Douglas scale, although a slight increase may be observed in the late afternoon in open sections.

The wind along the coast will be light to moderate, with a main direction from the east-southeast, with speeds of about 10–18 km/h. The probability of precipitation along the coast is lower than that in the interior of the country, but the development of local cumulus clouds and brief showers in the late afternoon hours is not excluded.

The general assessment for swimming safety along the Black Sea coast for June 13 is in favor of a green flag, with possible transitions to a yellow flag during temporary increases in wind or stronger swell. As always, the signaling of lifeguard posts on-site, which reflect the real situation at any given moment, is of decisive importance.
