Severe accident on the Sofia-Varna road

A severe accident has blocked traffic on the main Sofia-Varna road, in the area of the village of Dobri Dyal, Lyaskovets municipality. The incident occurred following a head-on collision between a passenger car and a heavy goods vehicle.

According to initial information from the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Veliko Tarnovo, one of the drivers died on the spot in the collision.

Traffic organization

At the moment, Traffic Police teams are regulating the flow and have introduced the following temporary measures:

  • For vehicles up to 12 tons: Detour routes have been introduced through the town of Lyaskovets and the village of Kozarevets.
  • For heavy goods vehicles over 12 tons: Traffic is temporarily suspended, and drivers must wait on-site until the accident scene is cleared.

Road authorities urge drivers to drive with increased caution and to follow the instructions of the police teams on site.
