Bulgaria prepares for large-scale budget reforms in 2027

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Investment and Industry and MP from "Progressive Bulgaria", Stefan Belchev, emphasized that more serious debates on the tax and social security system in our country are forthcoming during the preparation of the 2027 Budget.

"I strongly believe and hope that we can all see this through joint efforts in Budget 2027," Belchev stated on BNR.

Transparency in public spending

Regarding concerns about transparency in the management of 1.7 billion euros, Belchev was categorical that the practice of "spending in the dark" has come to an end. For every euro in the budget, there is an allocated item, with only minimal buffers provided for unforeseen needs.

Why are major investors leaving the country?

In response to questions about the investment climate, the MP pointed out that the problem does not lie in tax levels. According to him, the main reasons for the withdrawal of foreign companies are:

  • Chronic deficit of justice;
  • Institutional racketeering;
  • Acute shortage of qualified labor.

Belchev added that the adoption of the new budget is a clear signal to international markets of an end to political uncertainty and Bulgaria's integration into the economic core of Europe.
