Strong Wind and Cooling in Bulgaria

Today, our country is experiencing a remarkable change in weather conditions.

A strong to moderate wind from the east-northeast marks the beginning of the day, with gusts reaching an impressive 80-90 km/h in some areas under a yellow code warning.

This cold air front will significantly lower temperatures across the country.

According to the BNT forecast, maximum temperatures will be noticeably lower compared to yesterday.

In most of the country, they will fluctuate between 20° and 25°, while Sofia is expected to see around 25°, and the southern regions – still between 26° and 30°.

The difference is obvious and signifies a sharp change in the climate picture.

Cloud cover will be variable – partly cloudy, mostly significant, with expected rain in some places in Western Bulgaria and the southeastern regions.

In the afternoon, rainfall is expected to intensify in the Rila-Rhodope region, where thunderstorms are also possible.

Precipitation is also likely in the mountain ranges in the western half of Bulgaria.

The wind will be weak to moderate from the east-northeast, except in the highlands, where it will blow from the west-northwest.

Our Black Sea coast will be under the influence of a strong wind, which will cause increased sea waves, reaching up to 4 points in some areas.

The situation will create significant difficulties for vessels.

The unstable weather conditions will continue in the coming days.

The wind, especially in Eastern Bulgaria, will remain strong and northeasterly.

Rainfall is expected mainly in the western half of the country and the southeastern regions, and on Sunday – in more places along the Black Sea coast.

The temperature drop will continue during the weekend and the beginning of the new week, with maximum temperatures falling below 20° in many areas.

This foreshadows a cold snap, which should be taken into account when planning outdoor activities.
