Police in Shumen have confiscated a significant amount of nitrous oxide.

The operation was carried out yesterday morning, after receiving a signal for a man from Shumen, holding and distributing substances hazardous to health. Immediate actions were taken by the employees of the "Counteraction to Economic Crime" sector at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Shumen, who conducted a search in a premises used as a warehouse on "Veliki Preslav" Boulevard in the city.

On site, 150 bottles with a capacity of one liter, containing nitrous oxide, as well as 576 bottles of 8.2 grams with the alleged content of the so-called "laughing gas" were found. 44 special machines, called "nitrous oxide syringes", were also seized. Employees of the Regional Directorate of Food Safety - Shumen and the Regional Directorate of Fire Safety and Civil Protection - Shumen were involved for assistance.

A 36-year-old man from Shumen, a representative of a commercial company based in the regional city, who is responsible for the storage of the seized substances, has been identified. Expertise will be carried out to establish the presence of substances hazardous to health, after which the necessary legal actions will be taken under the leadership of the competent prosecutor's office.
