Sofia City Court rules today on whether Eyup Temiz, charged with the murder of businessman Slavi Binev, should stay in custody.

Binev was shot dead at his home in Sofia's Pavlovo district on 24 October. A gunshot residue test shows Temiz fired the shot that hit him in the face.

Soon after the shooting, police caught three men on the Trakia motorway, near the Trayanovi Vrata tunnel. Investigators say the three knew Binev and visited him at home before the shot was fired.

When they made the arrests, officers found two pistols. The suspects had thrown one of them out of the car. The prosecutor's office said the weapons include the one believed to have been used in the killing.

Investigators have found a link between Temiz and Binev: Temiz's wife, Niya Temiz, co-owns a company with him.

Detectives are mainly working on the theory that the killing was over an unsettled financial dispute.
