President Rumen Radev handed the third and final exploratory mandate to form a cabinet within the framework of this parliament to the "Alliance for Rights and Freedoms" (DPS).

The DPS immediately returned the folder with the mandate unfulfilled.

"I did not choose to hand the third mandate to the DPS by chance. Your members and sympathizers were subjected to pressure, and even today they continue to be under various forms of influence. I am handing you this mandate also as a symbol of national unity," said President Rumen Radev.

The chairman of the parliamentary group of the DPS, Hayri Sadakov, stated: "Consciously and responsibly, our parliamentary group authorized me to return the third exploratory mandate unfulfilled, in order to realize with all common efforts honest, free, transparent, democratic elections".

President Rumen Radev concluded: "We are going to elections".

This happened after GERB-SDS and PP-DB also returned the first and second mandates unfulfilled.

If the third attempt to form a government proves unsuccessful, the head of state appoints a caretaker government and sets a date for early elections.
