Acting Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova has submitted a request to the 52nd National Assembly to lift the parliamentary immunity of Member of Parliament D.A. The proposal was drafted by a prosecutor from the Supreme Cassation Prosecutor's Office, the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office announced.

The purpose of the request is to obtain authorization to continue the criminal proceedings against the MP before the Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC). In October 2025, the Sofia Court of Appeal overturned an acquittal issued by the Sofia City Court and found D.A. guilty of trading in influence in complicity with another person. The remainder of the verdict was upheld, and the decision of the Court of Appeal was subsequently appealed before the SCC.

D.A. acquired parliamentary immunity following a decision by the Central Election Commission on April 24, 2026, and after taking the oath of office on April 30, 2026. The Prosecutor's Office clarified that continuing the criminal prosecution before the SCC requires authorization from the National Assembly or written consent from the Member of Parliament themselves.
