The search continues for a 58-year-old man from the "Lukovitsa" neighborhood in Peshtera, who has been missing following the flooding in the area yesterday. The information was confirmed by Miroslav Stoyanov, spokesperson for the Pazardzhik Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. At this time, the missing person has not been found, and no body has been recovered.
A large-scale operation is underway involving numerous officers from the Peshtera District Police Department, the Bratsigovo Police Station, and the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. They have been joined by fire department teams from Peshtera and Pazardzhik. The terrain is being meticulously surveyed with the help of two police drones, while representatives from the Pazardzhik Mountain Rescue Service are utilizing another aircraft. Volunteers from the "Kupena" Tourist Association in Peshtera have also joined the search efforts.
Law enforcement forces are searching the riverbed of the Stara Reka and the surrounding areas. The teams' work is being hampered by the vast perimeter and difficult conditions, which include mud deposits, fallen trees, logs, branches, and rock debris. Due to the complex and hard-to-reach terrain, all participants are operating with heightened caution. The man went missing during the flood caused by heavy rainfall in the Peshtera and Batak regions.
