The Burgas region generated 176.7 million euros in revenue from overnight stays in July, with 125.6 million euros of that sum coming from foreign citizens, according to data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI). Nationally, total revenue for the same month amounted to 346.4 million euros, of which 237.9 million euros came from foreigners and 108.5 million euros from Bulgarian citizens.

Despite an 11.4 percent increase in revenue compared to a year earlier, the total number of overnight stays in Bulgaria fell by 5.4 percent. In July, a total of 5.768 million overnight stays were registered, with 2.139 million from Bulgarians and 3.629 million from foreigners. The NSI clarifies that these figures include the amounts paid by guests for accommodation, excluding the cost of additional services. Three-star accommodation facilities accounted for 15.3 percent of stays by foreigners and 22.3 percent by Bulgarian citizens, while 1 and 2-star establishments saw 6.2 percent and 33.7 percent, respectively.

The number of people who stayed overnight in the country in July decreased by 3.1 percent compared to the same month in 2025, reaching 1.456 million people. There were 666,000 Bulgarian citizens with an average of 3.2 overnight stays each, while there were 790,000 foreign visitors with an average of 4.6 overnight stays. Among foreign tourists, 77.2 percent chose 4 and 5-star category establishments.

The total bed occupancy rate in the country was 53.3 percent, a decrease of 2.5 percentage points year-on-year. The highest occupancy rate of 67.7 percent was reported in 4 and 5-star accommodation facilities, followed by 3-star establishments at 45.1 percent, and 1 and 2-star facilities at 32.3 percent. In July 2026, there were 3,667 facilities with 10 or more beds operating in the country, offering 149,800 rooms and 346,100 beds. Compared to the same month of the previous year, the number of accommodation facilities decreased by 2.6 percent, and the number of beds by 1.6 percent.
