The government has approved €2,971,119 to compensate municipalities for the higher cost of free transportation for children and students. The reason is the rise in fuel prices, the Council of Ministers announced.

With this funding, municipalities will provide daily transport for children from settlements without a kindergarten or school. They will be taken to the nearest town or village where they can attend classes.

The funds cover the period from September 15 to December 31, 2026, and will go directly into municipal budgets.
