The fire in Sungurlare municipality is gaining strength again, causing serious concern among local authorities and residents. According to information from the municipality's press center, a sudden change in wind direction and speed has led to a new expansion of the fire, which now threatens the village of Skala.
In light of this critical situation, the mayor of Sungurlare, Dimitar Gavazov, is personally leading operations on site. He is overseeing the efforts of local farmers who are using tractors with harrows in an attempt to create firebreaks in the fields and stop the spread of the fire. This strategy is crucial for preventing the flames from entering the village.
The municipal administration has mobilized all available resources and is ready for quick response, including possible evacuation of the residents of Skala village if the situation further deteriorates.
Significant forces in the fight against the fire
Significant forces and resources are engaged in fighting the fire:
- Nine firefighting teams from Burgas, Karnobat and Tsarevo
- Two helicopters and two Swedish aircraft for air support
- Volunteers and local farmers with their equipment
The situation remains extremely tense, as firefighters are already exhausted after more than 48 hours of continuous battle with the fire. Despite the fatigue, they continue to make every effort to control the fire and protect the threatened areas.
Local authorities urge residents to remain vigilant and closely monitor the development of the situation, as well as be ready to follow the instructions of fire services and municipal administration. The prolonged drought and high temperatures in recent weeks have created ideal conditions for the occurrence and rapid spread of forest fires, making the situation particularly dangerous.
