On June 29, 2025, employees from the Regional Inspection of Environment and Water - Varna received a signal about a fire that occurred in the lakeside area of Kazashko village. Operational experts took immediate actions to determine the scale and consequences of the incident.
During the field inspection the next day, the damages to the ecosystem were documented. The fire source covered the eastern part of the settlement along the northern shore of Varna Lake, destroying about 10 decares of vegetation, including dry grasses, reeds, and shrubs.
Particularly concerning is the fact that the fire affected three decares of the protected territories "Kazashko" and "Marshland", which are part of the European ecological network "Natura 2000". Specialists established that no wild animals were harmed.

Experts predict natural restoration of vegetation in the coming months, parallel to the onset of the rainy season. Alongside the ecological assessment, the District Prosecutor's Office - Varna will undertake administrative and punitive actions against the potential perpetrator of the fire.
