The police uncovered a theft of cigarettes from a cargo truck in the Lovech region.

On June 18, a signal was received at the Lovech Regional Police Department about a burglary in which an unknown quantity of cigarettes and electronic smoking devices were stolen from a cargo vehicle in the area of the village of Mikre, Ugurchin municipality. Immediate search actions were taken by employees of the "Crimes against Property" sector at the General Directorate of National Police.

Around 2:15 am, two vehicles traveling towards the capital were stopped on the territory of the Ninth Police Department in Sofia, which are presumed to be related to the theft. In one of the vehicles, 53 master boxes of cigarettes, electronic smoking devices, communication radios, and mobile phones were found.

Five Romanian citizens aged 28 to 45, who have a criminal record, were detained for up to 24 hours at the Lovech Police Department. Subsequently, they were charged as defendants and a measure of remand in custody for a period of 72 hours was imposed on them in the pre-trial proceedings.

The work on the case continues under the leadership of the Lovech Regional Prosecutor's Office.
