A specialized police operation conducted by officers of the Fifth Police District at the Sofia Police Directorate led to the uncovering of a large-scale drug distribution network in the capital. During the operation, carried out yesterday around 3 pm on "Geo Milev" Street in Sofia, two men aged 47 and 25 were detained while attempting to sell narcotics.
From the 47-year-old seller, a polyethylene bag with marijuana, a mobile phone, and over 700 BGN were seized, and in the "Toyota Highlander" car he was driving, three paper bags containing a dry herbal mass were found. A subsequent search of his home revealed two vacuum-sealed bags with a white powdery and a white chunky substance, a ball of marijuana, and a desk calendar with handwritten monetary amounts. In the adjacent garage, the police found a chest freezer in which there were four more vacuum-packed packages of marijuana, a large number of unused bags, a vacuum sealing machine, and electronic scales.
Additional information showed that the 47-year-old also used another residence as a drug depot - in the village of Parvomay, Petrich municipality. There, with the assistance of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, marijuana, a white powdery and chunky substance, a vacuum sealing machine, electronic scales, and nearly 45,000 BGN were found.
The total amount of seized drugs is around 9 kg of marijuana and 30 grams of cocaine. The detained 47-year-old man has a criminal record and has already been convicted of drug distribution. A pre-trial proceeding has been initiated against him under Article 354A of the Penal Code, and the court has ordered a detention measure of up to 72 hours.
