On June 9, during a patrol of their route, police officers from the Sixth Police Department in Sofia heard cries for help and immediately headed to the scene. There they found a man brutally beating an elderly victim, with the victim's belongings scattered around. At the sight of the officers, the perpetrator attempted to flee but was apprehended near the crime scene.
The detained 45-year-old man has a lengthy criminal history, including thefts, robberies, use of forged documents, and multiple convictions. He has been charged with a crime under Article 198 of the Criminal Code, and the prosecution has requested his permanent detention.

Details of the case were announced at a briefing by Commissioner Rumen Kostadinov, head of the Sixth Police Department, Atanas Dotsinski, Deputy District Prosecutor of Sofia, and Prosecutor Plamena Petkova.
