Police operation reveals large-scale drug trafficking in the capital

A specialized police operation by officials from the "Drugs" sector at the General Directorate of the National Police (GDNP) was carried out last night on the territory of Sofia. At the moment of a drug transaction, a 36-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were detained, and a polyethylene bag containing a white powdery substance was found on the client.

Subsequent operational actions in a residence in the capital's "Hadzhi Dimitar" district, used by the seller to hide the drugs. In the apartment, a hidden compartment was found in a TV cabinet, opening with a remote control and a magnet, from where numerous polyethylene bags containing over a kilogram of marijuana, about 80 g of a white powdery substance reacting to cocaine, about one kilogram of ecstasy and amphetamine tablets, an electronic scale, a vacuum machine, and a significant amount of money - 29,000 leva and nearly 2,000 euros were seized.

In the subsequent investigative actions, employees from the Fifth Police Station at the Sofia City Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR) actively participated. The man and woman were detained by a police order for a period of up to 24 hours, and subsequently, by a prosecutor's order, the detention measure for the man was changed to 72 hours, and he has now been charged with distribution and possession of drugs. The work on the case continues under the leadership of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
