Five people died in two crashes in Lovech region in a single day, the regional police directorate (ODMVR) in Lovech says.

Four men aged between 23 and 43 died in the morning after two cars collided head-on.

At around 4:30pm, two cars crashed on the road from Lovech to Pleven, near the turn-off for the village of Slatina. A 51-year-old man from Plovdiv was taken to hospital in Pleven, but his condition got worse and he died. A 76-year-old man and his 52-year-old daughter, also hurt in the crash, are being treated in hospital.

At around 3:15pm, a driver died at the scene in a crash on the road between the villages of Resen and Gradina, in Veliko Tarnovo region.
