Resignation in "Promenti Burgas" and shift to "Democratic Bulgaria"

"With this message, I would like to officially inform everyone of my decision to resign as chair of the 'Promenti Burgas' structure, as well as to terminate my membership in the PP 'We Continue the Change'. This decision was not taken lightly. On the contrary – it is the result of a long process of reflection and serious internal assessment. Up until today, I have maintained the desire, time, and readiness to work for the causes that unite us – the fight against corruption, the building of a more transparent, fair, and modern model of governance, as well as the affirmation of the values and principles in which I believe. I am proud of all the worthy, talented, honest, and dedicated members and supporters with whom I had the honor of working – both personally and within our joint initiatives. I believe that the potential of these people is exceptional and that, if given the opportunity, they can be a driver of positive and real change," she wrote, thanking all those who supported her.

She added that throughout the period in which she performed her duties as municipal chair of "Promenti Burgas", she was guided by the statute, principles, and values of the party.

"Unfortunately, the lack of sufficient constructive communication and trust, as well as the tension caused by differences in the vision and approaches for the development of the structure in Burgas, created circumstances that make effective collaborative work impossible. I believe that in politics, as in any public activity, honesty, responsibility, and the ability to work in the interest of the people should remain the most important things. Personal interests and irreconcilable hypocrisy are deeply repulsive and divisive," Thompson further wrote.

In her statement, she announces that she is joining the ranks of "Democratic Bulgaria".

Rivalry between PP and DB

We remind you that the "We Continue the Change – Democratic Bulgaria" coalition participated jointly in the parliamentary elections and ranked among the main political forces. After the vote, it took third place in the National Assembly after "Progressive Bulgaria" and GERB-SDS.

Subsequently, however, internal tension and rumors of a rift between the two formations began even before the formation of a regular cabinet. In the first days of the new parliament's work, it became clear that PP and DB would form separate parliamentary groups. With this split, the coalition lost its positions as a unified political force and was pushed back in the National Assembly. "Democratic Bulgaria" and "We Continue the Change" positioned themselves as separate groups with a different number of deputies.
